January 2010
Greetings from balmy Alaska!
While we have listened to the news reports bemoaning the “record-low temperatures” in the lower 48, we have enjoyed a relatively warm winter in the interior of Alaska. We haven't had as many -40 degree days as we normally do. Thank you global warming!
There were not many flights the last quarter of 2009, which allowed us to catch up on many details that |

What a beautiful weekend! Bright blue skies and -10F with very little wind. Earl was able to drive to Manley and hold service. What a sweet time. There was a sweet spirit apparent and the singing was good. Earl preached out of Luke 2:20 "And the shepherds departed..." on the thought, |

We were unable to travel to Manley on Saturday. One of the reasons was the 40 mph wind blowing across the mountains you have to cross on the way, that is, if you drive instead of fly. These winds cause poor visibility and blow snow drifts across the road...and there are no guard rails. The winds were suppose to die down overnight. So we waited.

The “Silent years” before the birth of Christ must have caused many people to wonder what God was doing! They were blind to the magnificent work God was doing behind the scenes. God was busy orchestrating events and the affairs of men world-wide. “But when the fullness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law...” |

Springs is on it's way! We added 30 seconds to our day today. (With only 3 hrs. 44 min. of daylight, you take what you can get!)

Some people think bigger is always better. Well, our little group in Manley Hot Springs was probably smaller than most, but it was a joy to hear several children reading from the Gospels and singing Christian Christmas hymns! Of the 50 or so living in the village, around 30 |

Greetings!
While we were on furlough, our web-master (Fred Laxton of Info TechDesign) suggested we update our website and take advantage of some of the latest web site design options that are offered now. Even with the lure of making articles easier to post, it was still tough to let go of the old website. We still receive compliments about the “old” site, and, well... we are the type of people who still have a few old vinyl LP records laying around. It's hard to change. |

Do you remember when you were young and what you thought when the “old folks” would say, “My, doesn't time fly?” Remember thinking that was crazy talk?! We didn't think Christmas, summer vacations, or our birthdays would ever arrive. Well, now we are the “old folks” who are saying, “My, how time does fly!” |

Praise the Lord for the folks who came to church at -20F this weekend. We had a total of nine (9) show up this beautiful, crisp, Sunday morning! We were missing some. Three were out on their trap line, two don't fly in when it's colder than -20 (it was -35 at their cabin!), and one is on his way back from TN. Remember, there are only around 60 in the village!

Greetings! We wanted to take a minute to wish you a happy thanksgiving. Psalm 95 says: 1 O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation. 2 Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms. 3 For the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods. |

While attempting to edit our last maintenance update regarding the upcoming expenses, I accidentally deleted the post. So, here's an update on the battery and Emergency Locater Transmitters need. The funds to purchase the two batteries have graciously been donated. |

Manley Baptist Fellowship is a group of Believers who either live in, or within 40 miles of Manley Hot Springs, Alaska. It is not unusual for folks to fly in, boat or 4-wheeler in (in the summer), snow machine in (in the winter), or just walk in for services on Sunday!

Praise & Prayer Request
Friday, August 28th was a special day. It was the culmination of a work that God started over two years ago. Two years ago, we were in the village of Savoonga on St. Lawrence Island with a team to distribute Bibles and hold revival services. |

A Near "Moose" 07/14/2009
Thank you for praying for our ministry. It is impossible to list every way for you to pray for us, but overall safety is always good.
For example,... I never thought to ask for you to pray that I won't run over a moose with an airplane before, but |

Anyone who follows our ministry knows how busy this time of year is for us. We arrived back in AK in March, and we still haven't finished unpacking boxes that we packed up before we left for furlough... which begs to question, “How important are these things anyway?” |
