Do you remember when you were young and what you thought when the “old folks” would say, “My, doesn't time fly?” Remember thinking that was crazy talk?! We didn't think Christmas, summer vacations, or our birthdays would ever arrive. Well, now we are the “old folks” who are saying, “My, how time does fly!” Spring sprung, summer is spent, fall has fallen, and winter is at our door! Soon we'll be writing 2010. We are reminded of the prophet Jeremiah's cry, “ The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved. ... Is there no balm in Gilead; is there no physician there?” (Jer 8:20ff) May our God give us the boldness to proclaim, “Behold, the LORD'S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: 2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.” (IS 59:1) “For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation... 13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”(Rom 10:10,13)

One of the challenges, in our ministry, is to convey, in a quarterly letter, what God has graciously allowed us to be a part of over the last few months. The difficulty comes not from a lack of news or information, but pausing long enough to put it down and sending it out without burdening you with information overload, yet letting you know how our Lord is using your prayers and gifts to further the Cause of Christ in Alaska.

“May God bless those who help us to help others.” Hundreds of hours, probably well into the thousands of hours of work that was NOT done by Earl or Lynn was put into airplanes, flying, preaching, facility maintenance, soul-winning, and expediting for missionaries this summer at Mission Air Care (MAC). Every summer, our Lord looks at Earl's Franklin day planner and says, “He'll never get that done by himself. I'd better send some of his brothers and sisters (in Christ) up to help him.” This year was no exception. Bro. David Crispell came up again to help with Operation Saturation. The Lord used Dave's many gifts to help in too many ways to list. Bro. Brett Zukowski served at MAC again this year as a mechanic and pilot. Two supporting churches sent teams up to add to our dorm rooms for missionaries. Larry & Birdie Phillips came up from our sending church and spent the summer helping out with scores of chores that freed us up to do other jobs. John & Joan Holmes drove a tractor trailer full of missionary Kevin Smith's supplies up from the Carolinas to Fairbanks to ensure they had what they needed to start their ministry on St. Lawrence Island. So, we don't know whether to say we only did about 1/10th of the work, or to say, God sent us enough help to get 10 times the work done!? However you look at it, if you prayed, gave, or both, you had just as big of a part of all that was done. Thank you!!

Earl's weekends are spent in Manley Hot Springs visiting and praying with folks, and preaching on Sunday mornings. The attendance is around 12 with spikes to 30 on special occasions. This unique Alaskan community at the end of the road is a joy to minister in. With trappers, mechanics, railroad workers, world travelers, ice road truckers, moms, etc. you don't get bored. One regular attender has asked for prayer. Her name is Betty, and she is struggling to understand salvation and lives in constant fear of dying. I told her you would pray for her. Earl also asks that you pray that God develop him into a better preacher. Thank you.
We thank the Lord for answered prayers on the aviation side of the ministry. There have been no break downs with our plane or missed flights due to weather since the annual inspection. We have slowed down our flying some in order to curtail expenses. Lord willing, we will have the debt from the annual inspection paid off by Christmas, and will be able to start saving funds again for the next inspections. With two airplanes needing inspection, and one needing rebuilding, the need will be great again in 2010. Please start praying about this need. The fall of the year is a good time to work off small problems with planes, reorganize the hanger, and fix nagging problems at the hanger. God has given us equipment and facilities to use and take care of. Maintaining these may not seem very spiritual, but if ignored, the spiritual work gets much more difficult!

Jeremiah is going to a Christian high school this semester instead of home schooling, and he would appreciate your prayers on his behalf for that. Lynn, spent 12 hours per days, helping cook and clean for two weeks of missions revival here in Fairbanks. This sure kept her busy! It was wonderful hearing how God is working in lands far and near. What a privilege to serve the King of Kings! As C.T. Studd once said, “If Jesus Christ be God and died for me, then no sacrifice can be too great for me to make for Him.” Praise the Lord for many who sacrifice so others can go!

In previous years, we have schedule our year in January. This coming year has already started filling up with potential flights for teams and workers coming up to help us for the summer. With that in mind, it is not too soon to start praying for the work of the Lord for 2010. Please pray for souls to accept the free gift of salvation from our loving Lord. Pray for workers to meet the needs here at MAC and that we will make a positive impact on their life and ministry. Lastly, please pray for God-called laborers for the villages of Alaska.

Co-laboring together,

Earl, Lynn & Jeremiah Malpass

Church Planting

Manley Baptist Fellowship is a group of Believers who either live in, or within 40 miles of Manley Hot Springs, Alaska.  It is not unusual for folks to fly in, boat or 4-wheeler in (in the summer), snow machine in (in the winter), or just walk in for services on Sunday!

Without MAC five young men wouldn't have been saved

Your friendship and help over the years has been a real blessing. Without MAC (Mission Air Care) five young men wouldn't have been saved. These young men are still active in our ministry and helped all week with VBS.
